Established in 1991, KT Hitel started out as a general internet service network, and launched many other online services there forth with its service portal, paran.com. The majority of KTH’s share is owned by KT, its holding company. KTH itself has KT Commerce and KT Capital.[3]

History

KT Hitel began Xen Online's open beta service on 2006 January 06.[4] Shortly after, the game received much backlash from the Korean gaming community for its 2.5D graphics holding a resemblance to competitor MMORPG Ragnarok Online.[5] Despite that, the beta test continued and the game launched commercially in 2007.

In April of 2005, KT Hitel established ParanGAMES as a publishing platform to host their own games as well as publish the games of other developers. In November of 2007, they renamed the ParanGAMES platform to Allstar.[6] Through Allstar, KTH has acted as a channel for online games, such as the Twelve Sky series, Karos Online, LOCO, and Another Day. Paran’s target goal is to rise as one of the three major game portals in the country, and as a result, has recently been focusing on its channeling capabilities and service quality.[7]
